EKG’s in Asheville
Advanced Electrocardiogram Tests
Every beat your heart makes sends out an electrical signal that travels through your heart. The EKG device allows us to record these signals and provide information such as the rate and strength of your heartbeat, along with the position and size of your heart’s four chambers. Our medical staff at PrimeHealth Asheville performs an electrocardiogram (also known as EKG or ECG) to record and analyze the electrical system in your heart.
If you have reasons to believe you require an EKG test in Asheville, please don’t hesitate to call our office at (828) 705-3520 for information on our membership process!
Detecting the Heart’s Most Common Problems
Our office uses electrocardiogram tests to detect early signs of common issues with the heart.
An EKG test is a preventive service capable of finding and/or monitoring a variety of heart disorders, including:
- Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)
- Blocked or narrow arteries
- Problems with heart chambers or valves
- Heart damage
- Heart failure
- Identifying heart attacks
Why You May Need an EKG Test
An EGK test may be required if you are experiencing symptoms of a heart disorder. These can include:
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Rapid heartbeat or arrhythmia
- Dizziness and/or fatigue
Other reasons a test might be needed include:
- History of a heart attack or other heart conditions
- Family history of any heart diseases
- Having treatment modalities such as a pacemaker to ensure that it is functioning properly
- Taking medications for heart disease to verify its efficacy
Electrocardiogram Procedure
The EKG test is a painless and safe procedure that requires our proficient team as little as three minutes to complete. Your medical provider will stick 10 electrodes on your chest, arms and legs. These small sensors record the electrical signals of your heart and send the information over to our computer monitor. Once retrieved and analyzed by our certified specialists, we will provide you with an analysis of the results and what the next steps you are advised to follow once a proper diagnosis has been made.
How Long Does an EKG Take?
An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) typically takes around 5 to 10 minutes. During the procedure, small electrodes are attached to the chest, arms, and legs to record the heart's electrical activity. The resulting data helps assess heart health, detect abnormalities, and diagnose various cardiac conditions efficiently and non-invasively.
