Dr. Sara Caldwell is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician. As an Asheville native, she has been in Western North Carolina for most of her life. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from UNC-Asheville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness Promotion. She then went on to medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.
During medical school, she helped create a student wellness program to help prevent burnout in medical students. After medical school, she completed her internship and residency training at Carolinas Medical Center (now Atrium Health) in Charlotte, NC. During her time at Carolinas Medical Center, she was awarded Intern of the Year and was a 3rd year resident champion/co-chief. She returned home to Asheville in 2016 and started practicing at Asheville Internal Medicine, along with her dad, Dr. Greg Glance.
During her time at Asheville Internal Medicine, she also worked as a local medical director for Aledade, Inc., a company that helps primary care physicians stay independent while providing excellent value-based care. As the healthcare landscape continues to change, she is very excited to join PrimeHealth Asheville and be able to place her sole focus on her patients and their health.
She particularly enjoys preventative care and focusing on the patient as a whole person, not as an individual disease process. She currently lives in Fairview, NC with her husband, Brett, and their dog, Wicket. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, traveling, and spending time with her niece, Nora.
